Castle Vale Literacy Champions Programme – spaces available for families

CVLC Family posteerThe Castle Vale literacy Champions programme has spaces available for families with a child aged between 2-5 years old. The sessions focus on promoting a love of reading by sharing books and stories, creative arts and crafts activities, songs and rhymes and a visit to the local library. Families will work 121 with a family support volunteer for 1 hour per week for 6 weeks in a community venue. Families will receive 3 FREE books of their choice.

We currently have sessions taking place on:

  • Wednesdays between 11am -1.30pm at the Sanctuary
  • Thursday 10am – 2.30pm at the Castle Vale Children’s Centre

We are also due to start sessions at Castle Vale Nursery School.

You don’t need to have good reading or writing skills yourself. Your volunteer will help you find fun ways of supporting your child that work for you.

To register your interest, contact Carla Belle on 0121 748 8189 or

Through the Neighbourhood Partnership, public service planning and delivery will be truly responsive to local needs and residents will continue to play a full and active part in driving the priorities for services.
